Job description:
The Theoretical Particle Physics and Cosmology Group of the Department of Physics at King's College London offers two Research Associate (Postdoc) positions funded by the UK STFC, to start in Autumn 2020.
One position is to research on models of new physics beyond the Standard Model, such as new scenarios for electroweak symmetry breaking and dark matter, and possible phenomenological probes in collider and non-collider experiments. This position has a duration of 3 years.
The other position is to carry out research on problems in particle astrophysics and cosmology, including dark matter, baryogenesis, models of inflation and possible sources of gravitational waves. This position has a duration of 2 years.
Successful candidates will be expected both to collaborate with existing members of the group and to lead their own research projects in these areas. We are particularly interested in candidates open to interacting with group members working on gravitational physics and applications of theoretical physics.
The selection process will include competency-based questions and a panel interview. Interviews are scheduled to be held in December 2019.
To apply for these roles we require you to register and apply through the college HR system. To minimise your time spent on this procedure note that in this online interface we need only the absolute minimum information required by the system. In addition, it would be very useful if you were able to arrange at least two letters of reference and a CV/generic research statement to be sent to academic jobs online.
Please note that if you plan to apply for both roles, you should be able to reuse some of your information for the second application on the college HR system.
For an informal discussion to find out more about the roles please contact Prof. John Ellis, john.ellis@cern.ch, or Prof Malcolm Fairbairn, malcolm.fairbairn@kcl.ac.uk.
The deadline for applications is midnight UK time on 8th December 2019.
