Job description:
The division of Elementary Particle Physics, at the Institute of Theoretical Physics of the University of Wroclaw, invites applications for a post doctoral employment within the OPUS-17 grant "Neutron stars: birth, structure and mergers" (UMO-2019/33/B/ST9/03059), funded by the Polish National Science Centre (NCN). The position is for 24 months to start no sooner than June 1st, 2020, with the possibility to be extended to a total duration of 36 months. The division of Elementary Particle Physics provides expertise at the forefront of high-energy particle physics phenomenology, the physics of heavy-ion collisions, equation of state for hot and dense matter as well as core-collapse supernova simulations.

The position is open to candidates from all countries. Wroclaw University is strongly committed to diversity, and we strongly encourage applications from individuals who add to the diversity and inclusiveness at the Wroclaw University.

Requirements: The candidate must have obtained a doctoral degree not more than 7 years prior to this employment (can be extended in the case of parental leave for 18 months for each child within this 7 year period), in theoretical physics with specialization in one or more of the following disciplines: nuclear-, particle- and astrophysics, quantum statistical physics of strongly interacting many-particle systems, equation of state.

The successful candidate is expected to actively interact at the interface between the development of equations of state with hadron-to-quark matter phase transition and exploring their role in astrophysical applications, such as core-collapse supernovae and rotating (proto)neutron stars.

Applicants are requested to provide a cover letter, curriculum vitae with complete list of publications, a statement of research interests and experience, and arrange for at least two reference letters. Complete applications received by April 30, 2020 will receive full consideration. All materials should be send via email to david.blaschke@uwr.edu.pl.

The successful candidate will be chosen in an open competition procedure conducted by a three-person recruitment committee. Results of the competition will be made public by placing on the website of the entity in which the research project will be implemented. The candidate must not have been employed under a contract of employment at the entity in which the research project is implemented, two years prior to this employment. During the period of receiving this remuneration, the candidate would be not employed under another employment contract.

Included Benefits: The position comes with a competitive gross salary of 8.300 PLN monthly and comprehensive benefits including paid vacation, sick leave, social security.
